Gen Re currently has an excellent opportunity for an Underwriting Assistant to join our P&C team in our Sydney office.

Your Role

In this role you will provide pre-underwriting support to our team of P&C Facultative Underwriters across Australia and New Zealand. Reporting to the Field Operations Manager based in Melbourne, you will be an integral part of the P&C team.

The role will be involved in the following

  • Pre-underwriting of Individual Risk and Bundled Business including interpreting, analysing and inputting information provided by our team of Underwriters and clients in the relevant underwriting database/s and tools.
  • Post-underwriting which involves processing reinsurance certificates and endorsements and monitor, and action system generated reminders for outstanding tasks.
  • Run renewal and other ad-hoc reports.
  • Testing new and existing system changes and updates.
  • Update and maintain client contact information using MS Dynamics.
  • Maintain Property and Casualty Line of business knowledge for ISR, General Liability, Professional Indemnity and Motor classes of business.

Your Profile

  • Previous experience within the insurance industry, in an underwriting support function.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy while maintaining a sense of urgency.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple priorities and operate various applications at once.
  • Proven ability to analyse, manipulate and organise complex data and strong communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel in particular).
