The Copenhagen Branch services the Nordic Market and reports to Paris. Our office is located centrally in Copenhagen at Islands Brygge and you will become part of a small team of 6 professionals in Copenhagen.

Your Role

The role would suit a professional with strong knowledge within the Property segment, preferably with facultative or primary insurance experience. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a small local team. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the candidate will thrive in the environment of client interaction.

This position offers the opportunity to work within a highly experienced team with a large portfolio of clients. The successful candidate will be empowered to make underwriting decisions with underwriting authority and corresponding responsibility and accountability and will be responsible for marketing, soliciting new business, handling of accounts, underwriting and transacting facultative business.

This position offers a continuing variety of tasks; underwriting authority, developing specialised expertise in a line of business, class of business, or with a specific client and will be the principal relationship manager for one or more major clients and will negotiate the transfer of risk, pricing and terms directly with the client in co-operation with the team in Copenhagen and with strong support from our Property colleagues in Paris/Cologne.

Key responsibilities:

Technical underwriting that will include:

  • Demonstrating underwriting knowledge and experience;
  • Expertise in understanding contracts, policy forms and terms and conditions;
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships;
  • Developing the correct level of senior client contact to allow for effective management of the client relationship;
  • Performing appropriate cost/benefit analysis;
  • Understanding, developing and implementation of appropriate client/territory marketing plans;
  • Understanding market pricing and market terms and conditions;
  • Bringing an array of solutions, alternatives and options to clients;
  • Growing an already strong client base;

Your Profile

  • Solid use of technology and abilities to update underwriting tools
  • Confidence with Word, Excel and PowerPoint are essential for the role
  • Native speaker of at least one Nordic language is required; fluent in English is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong client relationship management skills
  • Ability to balance client needs against underwriting discipline
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills within a team environment
  • Friendly, approachable, professional
  • Flexibility to align to the continuing demands of the department
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
