General Reinsurance, Madrid Branch (a subsidiary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for an Account Manager in our Madrid Life Health Department to develop and maintain clients in Spain and Portugal.

Your Role

The emphasis of this role is on the development and management of successful relationships, not only with clients but within the organisation. Gen Re Life Health’s flat structure requires considerable cross-functional interaction and cooperation with colleagues to ensure that client needs, and expectations can be met. The role requires someone who can work collaboratively with clients and colleagues alike and build deep relationships to the benefit of the business. We are looking for someone who would show strong account management skills to retain and grow our current portfolio of business. The role includes producing quotations for individual and group life / health reinsurance business, providing technical actuarial expertise on existing treaties as well as more general pricing research work.

Key responsibilities

  • Pricing of all types of treaties and lines of business relevant to the Business Unit
  • Pricing and development of Life and Health products
  • Continual improvement of existing processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency
  • Work with legal in treaty matters related to the handled business
  • Presentations and collaboration in courses and seminars offered to clients
  • Conducting of experience analysis investigations for the purposes of monitoring Gen Re’s own experience and for quotation purposes.

Your Profile

  • Actuarial degree
  • Excellent Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Even though knowledge of specific computer languages is not required, the successful candidate would be expected to quickly become competent in R
  • Preferably 3 to 5 years of experience working in the life and health insurance industry.
  • Native Spanish level is mandatory
  • High level of written and spoken English
  • Knowledge of other languages (Portuguese or German) are desirable

  • Ability to prioritise, while remaining flexible to deal with changing work demands
  • Ability to summarise complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively as part of a team, deal with people at all levels and in all areas of the business and engage with clients
  • Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines
  • Flexibility to align to the continuing demands of the department
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
