We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Claims Executive to join our P&C team in the Sydney office. We are seeking an individual with strong technical claims management experience and industry knowledge. This dynamic individual will demonstrate a can-do attitude with an enthusiasm for proactively contributing to achieving claims outcomes.

Your Role

Reporting to the Head of International P&C Claims based in Sydney, you will be an integral part of the Gen Re P&C team.

Your role will be to proactively manage property and casualty claims while providing high value technical claims support to our clients. Working within a small team, you will have full ownership and accountability for a portfolio of claims with responsibility for all aspects of claims management, claims administration and claims reporting. In addition, you will have responsibility for:

  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external clients;
  • Actively supporting marketing efforts by participating in client and prospective client visits, conducting on-site claim reviews, delivering educational presentations to clients, and contributing to Gen Re publications on claim-related issues;
  • Actively researching and reporting on developments in claims management including claim related legal trends and;
  • Assisting with Claim Department training and development.

This is a great opportunity to be involved in a wide range of Australian and New Zealand claims, insurance and reinsurance issues from the perspective of a successful reinsurer.

Your Profile

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an insurance/reinsurance technical claims management position managing property and/or casualty claims;
  • Completion of a Law degree will be highly regarded;
  • Highly developed technical skills with a strong attention to detail;
  • Self-motivated and with a natural aptitude to work independently as well as within a team environment, with excellent organizational skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build rapport and influence at all levels;
  • Demonstrates a can-do attitude with an enthusiasm for continuous improvement and professional development;
  • Experience in or willingness to train and present information to a range of stakeholders.

While the preference is for someone who fulfils all the above criteria, we will consider exceptional candidates with less experience whom we deem capable of growing into the role.
