Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity within Casualty Facultative North America (CFNA) for a Specialty Underwriter. This opening is not for a specific location, but preference will be given to candidates who are able to work out of a U.S. Branch Office of Gen Re (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Hartford, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia).
Underwriting Analysis - The Cas Fac Specialty underwriter will be experienced and well versed with the North American Specialty marketplace and will become an expert in understanding and communicating CFNA’s appetite for Medical, E&O and Management Liability business. Possessing sound underwriting skills, the Specialty Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating individual risks and exposures that are often complex and must be adept in the application of rates, forms, pricing, structures, terms and conditions. The Specialty Underwriter will be expected to operate comfortably in a team environment where multi-headed risk reviews and analyses are routine.
Relationship Building - The Cas Fac Specialty Underwriter will be responsible for cultivating and developing productive client relationships and creating an appropriate level of interest and demand for the products, services and support that CFNA can provide. With minimal managerial oversight, the Specialty Underwriter must be comfortable connecting with and influencing clients at the management level and in identifying problems and recommending an array of Casualty Facultative options, alternatives and solutions.
Learning/developing - The Cas Fac Specialty Underwriter will take proper initiative to increase his or her knowledge of broad based business/industry trends and themes as well as policies, principles, processes and procedures across all lines of Specialty business. As appropriate, he or she will attend and participate in all Gen Re Cas Fac underwriting and technical seminars as well as outside industry-related courses and conferences. The Cas Fac Specialty Underwriter will coordinate and participate in various support activities and special projects including conducting advanced research and will work on components of larger projects and analysis.
