Tom is retired from Gen Re after previously serving for years as its Chief Medical Director - U.S., where Tom oversaw Life & Health medical research and development, managed medical consultation on facultative cases, and maintained the Gen Re SOURCE underwriting manuals for Individual Life, Individual Disability Income, and Critical Illness. He is board-certified in internal medicine, geriatric medicine and insurance medicine. Tom studied Biochemical Sciences as an undergraduate at Harvard College, and then attended medical school at Case Western Reserve University where he also completed residency in internal medicine. During his more than 30 years of insurance medicine experience, Tom has served as ACLI Medical Section Chair and Program Committee Chair, past Chair of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine Mortality and Morbidity Committee, and he currently serves on the faculty of AAIM Basic Mortality Methodology Course. He is a member of the ACLI Risk Classification Committee. Tom also holds the FACP and DBIM designations.
