Long COVID refers to the ongoing psychological and physical symptoms that some patients experience after recovering from COVID‑19. How many people are affected? Does the persistence of symptoms differ much from what happened in other respiratory diseases? What about the long-term inability to work?

Studies have found that people with Long COVID may suffer from ongoing fatigue, pain, loss of concentration, poor sleep, depression, and anxiety, as well as physical symptoms such as organ damage reported in lungs, heart, kidneys, and brain, or an increased cardiovascular risk. The symptoms of Long COVID are highly variable, making it difficult to diagnose and treat.
