Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Gen Re is committed to embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into our work culture to build a more diverse and inclusive workplace. We continue to develop DEI goals, enhanced DEI training, and development for our leadership and workforce. Embracing the principles of DEI and a global mindset is key to our success.

We aim to increase diversity at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership. We are looking at both our hiring and promotion process and re-engineering our university partnerships to focus on under-represented students in our industry.

Our DEI Journey

Our senior leaders are actively involved in our DEI initiatives. They build awareness, engage in conversations, participate in training, and hold each other accountable to move Gen Re forward. In 2022, Gen Re appointed its first Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer responsible for developing and promoting our DEI plan through workplace initiatives, workforce engagement and marketplace and community opportunities across Gen Re.

We have also established a strong network of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) across the globe which are sponsored by our leadership team.

Employee Resource Groups

As a part of Gen Re's diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, we have launched Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that are voluntary, employee-led groups based on common interests and backgrounds.

Our ERGs welcome and emphasize the support and participation of allies. They focus on the intersectionality of the issues that are important to all employees. Through their strong networks and initiatives, our ERGs plan to provide:

  • Career development and networking opportunities through various workshops and activities
  • Brand awareness through community outreach and strong networks of employees
  • Thought leadership on diversity and inclusion based on the feedback from the members
  • A sense of community and continuity in times of change

Global Alliance of Multicultural Professionals and Allies

"Together we are stronger." With this motto we create, nurture and sustain a global, inclusive culture, where difference drives innovative solutions to meet the needs of our community and our clients.

We want to spread awareness and showcase the importance and advantage of having multiculturalism within the workplace.

We aim to support a diverse workplace that incorporates and accepts a variety of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences. This approach improves decision-making and leverages the positive impacts of diversity for a competitive business advantage.

This will be accomplished by fostering a welcoming forum for employees at all stages of parenthood and caregiving, providing resources on relevant topics, and securing management support for working parents and caregivers as they navigate their careers at Gen Re.
