Gen Re Life currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Technical Business Analyst in our Stamford, CT office.

Your Role

As an integral part of the Gen Re Global Life Business Technology team, the Technical Business Analyst will work with cross-functional stakeholders and external clients to understand their business needs and design, build, and operationalize the best-in-class solutions. This role is responsible for overall business requirements, analysis and testing phases of a project. Technical Business Analyst also contributes to the overall planning, technical design and implementation including process changes of a project. Additionally, this role will also be responsible for business continuity planning, completing security questionnaires and responsible for vendor management. The Technical Business Analyst role is expected to work independently on multiple assignments with a sense of urgency, structure, and attention to detail.

Position Responsibilities include:
  • Provide business analysis, technical design and planning activities for business and IT initiatives:
    • Perform and document requirements gathering and analysis
    • Design high level technical solutions including frontends, databases and interfaces
    • Facilitate business process changes and solution design
    • Assign and manage project tasks
    • Develop and implement test plans to ensure successful delivery
    • Ensure system and process documentation is maintained

  • Security Compliance
    • Ensure PHI/PII Training is conducted and completed annually
    • Conduct bi-annually User Access Audits
    • Coordinate compliance with Client Security Audit Questionnaires
      • Ensure questions are completed in a timely manner and according to client timeframes where reasonable
      • Maintain the list of Client Security Audit Questions and our responses
      • Maintain documentation including detail process steps and owners for both User Access Audits & Client Security Audit Questionnaires
    • Coordinate risk assessments for new Vendors and ensure annual reviews are completed

  • Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery
    • Coordinate annual BCP review
    • Update documentation as necessary utilizing BCP Website
    • Maintain phone tree info and coordinate with General Service
    • Testing of auto notification process (Everbridge)
    • Maintain inventory of business-critical applications and ensure these applications are tested annually

  • Partner with cross-functional users to maintain and develop high quality solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Contribute to the collaboration with internal Technology resources to drive enterprise-wide strategies, procedures, and standards related to the applications and data
  • Provide end-users support including business queries and requests
  • Provide technical assistance and cross training to business users and other team members

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Information Science or related field is preferable. Equivalent combination of experience, education and training will be considered
  • 3 or more years of business analysis and project management or coordination of application development, maintenance, and BI related projects
  • Strong working knowledge of SDLC and Agile development principles
  • Knowledge of Insurance or Re-insurance domain preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical management and resource staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively throughout the organization by establishing effective working relationships with all departments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
