Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Catastrophe Risk Analyst in our Stamford, CT office or performed remotely for appropriately qualified individual within the North American Loss Modelling Team.

Your Role

This role is with the North America loss modelling team which is part of the larger pricing and actuarial unit. Modelling team members are responsible for delivering catastrophe model analyses output in support of underwriting and senior management decision making. This role is also expected to research commercial vendor models as they evolve and assess impacts to Gen Re’s internal view of catastrophe risk. The ideal candidate will possess strong IT skills, exposure to the AIR and RMS catastrophe models and a basic understanding of reinsurance structures and transactions.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate AIR/RMS vendor model loss output to underwriters in a timely manner.
  • Work with loss modelling team members to continually refine in-house processes and challenging current assumptions and workflows.
  • Perform project and ad-hoc work such as model research or system/process development.
  • Keep up to date with model changes and flaws
  • Perform analysis on model change impact to Gen Re’s portfolio
  • Perform post event modelling analyses
  • Liaise with cat model vendor support
  • Attending relevant seminars and conferences

Your Profile

  • Undergraduate degree in information technology, mathematics, statistics, or other quantitative field of study.
  • 1-2 years of catastrophe modelling experience using AIR and or RMS platforms
  • Experience solving technical problems / challenges
  • Willingness to learn vendor model execution workflows. Specifically, RiskLink, Risk Browser, Touchstone and Touchstone Re.
  • Basic understanding of reinsurance structures and transactions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Multi-relational database experience (Access, SQL Server) with the ability to write SQL statements. Visual Basic a plus.
  • Vendor model certifications CCRA / CCM a plus.
  • Travel to Stamford, CT if and/or as needed.
