General Re Life currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Data Management Lead in our Portland, ME office or performed remotely for an appropriately qualified individual.

Your Role

As the Data Management Lead you will help develop a deep understanding of the data that is received from our clients, how it flows into our data warehouse, and how it is utilized across the organization. The role requires a self-starter who is organized and accountable. The candidate should have demonstrated leadership experience managing, guiding, mentoring, and coaching a team.

Role responsibilities

The Data Mangement Lead will oversee the team responsible for:

  • Perform daily quality checks to ensure accurate, complete, reliable, relevant, and timely data.
  • Map source to target data.
  • Work with various units to resolve data exceptions.
  • Create best practices to identify, address, and resolve data issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicate across teams and departments to promote transparency of data mapping and issues identified through the process.
  • Collaborate on projects to backfill data and improve data quality working closely with database team.
  • Participate in the build out automation to assess treaty compliance as data is received.
  • Write complex SQL queries using joins, grouping, aggregation, nested subqueries, etc. to assist in management requests.

Your Profile

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience, insurance industry preferred.
  • Experience analyzing large datasets.
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language preferred. Relevant languages include: VBA, R, Python, C#.
  • Solid understanding of SQL, methods of data analysis, and reporting.
  • Expert in Excel and other Microsoft products including Access.
  • Ability to collaborate with a team.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills.

Strongly Preferred
  • Working knowledge using TAI reinsurance software.
  • 2+ years of experience managing a team.
