Life/Health Underwriter

General Reinsurance, London Branch (a subsidiary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for a Life/Health Underwriter on a temporary 12 month contract in our London Life/Health Insurance Department.

Your Role:

As a key member of the underwriting team, the successful candidate will be expected to administer, implement and promote all aspects of Gen Re underwriting philosophy and practice and to ensure that high levels of service are met and maintained.

This role predominantly concentrates on the day to day technical underwriting but other adhoc duties may be required.

Key responsibilities:

This will include:

  • Understanding and applying Gen Re’s underwriting philosophy, rules and guidelines;
  • Working within agreed authority limits;
  • Providing technical underwriting advice to Gen Re clients on a daily basis;
  • Proficiency in understanding client contracts and policy terms and conditions;
  • Ensuring clear, concise and accurate documentation (internal and external);
  • Liaising with Gen Re Consulting Medical Officers;
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships.

Additional Information:

This role would suit a life and health underwriter with proven and relative experience who has a desire to broaden his or her technical underwriting skills. It is essential that the candidate demonstrates the ability to work well in a close knit environment and enjoy working in collaborative teams. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the candidate will thrive in the challenging, professional and dynamic environment and play an important part in developing efficient and profitable underwriting philosophy within the business.
