Region: North America

A team of Gen Re Property Facultative underwriters head to the Inland Marine Underwriters Association’s (IMUA) 87th Annual Meeting - held from May 21 through 24 in Braselton, Georgia - in search of new underwriting insights and opportunities to share perspectives with senior industry professionals. IMUA’s Annual Meeting is the premier education conference for the Inland Marine industry with content designed to appeal to both industry veterans and new underwriters alike.

Through events like its Annual Meeting, and frequent webinars on topics relevant to underwriters and brokers, the IMUA provides an invaluable service to a unique segment of the insurance industry. Although Inland Marine represents a very small percentage of overall industry premiums, it stands on the forefront of developments within the American economy. Sometimes referred to as the “insurance of commerce,” this niche insurance industry segment provides coverage for goods in transit and buildings under construction through underwriters who tailor underwriting solutions to heterogeneous business risks.

Like all of the member companies, Gen Re underwriters benefit greatly from the content sponsored by the IMUA. Frequent webinars and regional seminars are two of the ways in which our team of underwriters is able to:

  • Stay current on emerging issues and new developments in industry segments germane to Inland Marine.
  • Deliver underwriting insights and expertise to clients beyond the risk transfer transaction, enabling us to assist our clients select and differentiate risks.

The IMUA provides tangible benefits to its member institutions but depends on the support of member companies and individuals who volunteer their time and expertise to deliver relevant and useful content. Gen Re is proud to support the organization and its mission, and has done so in the following ways in the past year: serving as Board Member and Regional Committee leaders of the Chicago and Great Lakes Regional Advisory Committees; playing a key role in establishing the Canadian Regional Advisory Committee; and facilitating the Intro Track presentation for Transit at the 87th Annual Meeting.

If you are attending the IMUA meeting next week, please seek out our attendees. If you’re not attending, contact your local Property Fac underwriter to learn how our reinsurance solutions can lift your business. From Cranes to Builder’s Risk, Motor Truck Cargo to Trip Transit, our dedicated Inland Marine team has the expertise, resources and commitment to help you grow your business profitably for the long term.
