Farmington, CT, September 3, 2008 … General Re–New England Asset Management (GR–NEAM™) has hired Stacy Varney as Vice President, New Business Development.

Ms. Varney, formerly with JHA, a subsidiary of Gen Re LifeHealth, was responsible for JHA’s marketing and business development activities. Ms. Varney has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry.

As a Vice President in the Marketing Group, Ms. Varney will report to Ms. Terry Becker, and will
be responsible for new business development, focusing on both sales and marketing opportunities
for the firm.
