Our aim is to deliver timely insights prepared by our specialists on topics that are most important to you. Issue: August, 2009   Language: English
Summary: Increasingly, insurance companies are relying on the surplus lines market or larger competitors to meet their insured contractors needs for Railroad Protective Insurance (RRP). This market reality is being driven by time sensitive requests for limits well above the $2 million/$6 million historical standard. On the surface, this risk outsourcing strategy seems to be a prudent way to meet contractors needs without over-leveraging the construction book with RRP capacity. In this brochure, we take a closer look, revealing some major pitfalls with this approach, and why risk transfer via Facultative reinsurance is a safer solution.
