Marine Liabilities

A wide range of various marine liability coverages which are based on the legal and/or contractual liability agreed upon with the customer. In most cases this insurance covers third-party interests in the care, custody and control of the policy holder.

  • Charterer's:
    Liability of the charterer (lender) for damage to the vessel chartered. Extent of Liability defined in the contract ("charter party") signed by the ship owner or manager.
  • Marina Operator's:
    Liability of the marina operator for damage to vessels in the marina at the time of loss based on the contractual liability of the marina operator to the ship owner.
  • P&I:
    Protection and Indemnity covers liability, losses and damages occurring during the operation of the vessel to third parties or third-party property. The risks covered under a hull policy are excluded.
  • Terminal Operator's:
    Liability of the terminal for damage to goods while in the custody of the terminal operator.
  • Ship Repairer's:
    Liability of the shipyard for damages to a vessel while under repair or conversion at the shipyard based on the legal or contractual liability of the shipyard to the ship owner.
  • Stevedore's:
    Liability of the stevedore for claims to property being unloaded from vessel to shore.
  • Wharfinger's:
    Liability of the wharfinger for claims to goods and vessels in his charge based on the contractual liability of the wharfinger to his client.
