Insurance products are complex by their very nature. In addition, it has long been said that the difficulty in selling insurance is that we are selling a “promise” rather than a tangible product. With that said, are we making the products more complex than they need to be?
As part of our U.S. Producer Perspective series, we asked our experienced group of Critical Illness agents and enrollers to share their thoughts on simplicity vs. complexity. Whether sitting at a kitchen table selling a high face amount individual product, or presenting to a benefits committee at a large employer; simplicity is essential. Throughout our discussions, we heard a common theme that the sale is often lost once the focus shifts to product “features” rather than “benefits.”
