Job Description:

Advanced analytics is a broad field with various applications. At Gen Re, we collect data from various sources and in different data formats. We have a team of analysts who are involved in different applications of analytics. In a typical business project, advanced analytics includes an exploration phase to better understand the data as well as the design of analytical experiments to ultimately answer specific business questions. Therefore, it is necessary to experiment with different techniques such as statistical methods (e.g. simulations) and machine learning models (e.g. random forests). Data visualization is another fundamental part of this process, both in the exploration phase and in the interpretation of results.

We are expanding the range of our projects and many interesting tasks are involved.

You will work closely with our Senior Data Scientist on such projects. The goal is to experiment with and implement such tasks over time.

  • Studying for a degree in mathematics, computer science, economics, financial mathematics or the natural sciences
  • Initial practical skills in one high-level programming language are required. R is strongly preferred, but we will also consider experience with Python
  • Constant willingness to learn, analytical mindset and the ability to find pragmatic solutions
  • Experience with data analysis or statistical techniques beyond linear regression would be highly advantageous
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel and SQL is an advantage
  • Flexibility and strong communication skills in the team
  • Very good or fluent English language skills

We offer you:

  • Flexible working hours that can be optimally combined with your degree course
  • A cordial work environment with the opportunity to gain highly relevant professional experience for the future through engagement with practical tasks
  • Use of the staff canteen during the lunch break
