Job Description:

This role is a position within the Technology Strategy Division (TSD) of General Star and Genesis. The Technology Strategy Division (TSD) provides the technology direction and governance for all divisions of General Star and Genesis. We also serve as the relationship manager to GenRe Corporate IT. TSD is specifically responsible for the oversight, and in certain instances, the direct support and enhancement of G2 technology systems. We serve as the business leader on technology projects that support both strategic and tactical goals.

As a Business Systems Analyst, you will translate business needs into technical solutions that support General Star and Genesis technology goals. Projects will seek improved business outcomes through business process change, new or enhanced product development and technology transformation.

The Business Systems Analyst will work with General Star and Genesis Subject Matter Experts (SME’s), Gen Re IT partners and vendors to support the technology needs of General Star and Genesis within Gen Re’s IT architecture. The Business Systems Analyst will develop specifications for developers to follow, oversee implementation and coordinate testing. Observe initiation of the system functions to access business value and validate performance. This role requires the ability to work in an agile development environment, making decisions around scope and function. It requires the individual possess the ability to then effectively communicate these decisions back to stakeholders.

The Business Systems Analyst works as a liaison among stakeholders to understand business needs and goals, recommend solutions, and then translate the same into business requirements. The Business Analyst reviews current processes and contributes to improvement efforts including but not limited to:

• Lead implementations of project or project segments.
• Evaluate user requirements for business value and alignment with General Star and Genesis corporate goals.
• Lead user acceptance testing and execution.
• Participate in sessions with Gen Re IT to evaluate proposed technical solutions.
• Participate in vendor interactions.
• Lead project meetings pertaining to areas of expertise.
• Maintain working knowledge of current insurance and technology trends.
• Increase knowledge of business and technical areas applicable to General Star/Genesis.
• Share areas of expertise with BTU and across related groups with General Star/Genesis and Gen Re.
• Support your division and organization’s goals and strategies.
• Pursue insurance knowledge through internal and external training opportunities.
• Travel domestically, as required.

Experience/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Associate in General Insurance (AINS) designation preferred.
• Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI) designation preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Access and Excel.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Exhibit leadership skills and maintain a business demeanor that is open, transparent and accountable.
• Ability to make timely decisions and focus on results taking into consideration corporate priorities.
• Solid understanding of technology platforms, including mainframe, client server and web based.
• Solid understanding of the IT project lifecycle, from requirements analysis through testing and rollout.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to clearly articulate to all project stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
• Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to listen, collaborate and negotiate.
