Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Client Accountant in our Stamford, CT office.

Job Description:

The Client Accountant handles all aspects of designated client’s assumed and ceded account processing, serves as the primary accounting contact for the client and supports Gen Re client teams/business segments by providing analysis and early-warning intelligence regarding client experience. The Client Accountant will generally be assigned clients with a range of business relationships involving multiple product lines. The Client Accountant’s accounting functions include: verification of client cessions for compliance with contract terms & conditions, premium & bulk loss registrations, cash collection & application, analysis of premium volume changes & overdue balances, calculation and billing of premium adjustments (including retrospective adjustable features and reinstatements). The Client Accountant is expected to comfortably interact with internal and external clients and respond effectively to their contract questions and concerns.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Drafting client reporting/billing formats and remittance instructions in accordance with contract terms
  • Managing receivables for their individual clients.
  • Reviewing and analyzing earnings, estimates, premium volume growth, and overdue receivables on a monthly basis.
  • Interacting with other Gen Re departments and senior management to provide analytical results on premium volume growth, adjustable feature accruals and overdue balances. Ad hoc functions pertaining to account maintenance.
  • Conducting client audits.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • College Degree or 3 to 5 years of relevant reinsurance experience preferred.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the insurance/reinsurance industries.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Good knowledge of specific PC applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Access and Lotus Notes.
  • Good customer service/client relations skills
  • Solid organizational and self-management skills.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and projects to completion.
  • Works effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
